Mgahinga national park situated in the western part of Uganda, it  is a part of the great Virunga volcanic region known for its endemic species of the mountain gorillas and Golden monkeys which are restricted to the Virunga ecosystem, the park covers an area space of approximately 33.7 kilometers qualifying it as the smallest national park of Uganda, on our 3 days golden monkey tracking we will visit the home of gentle giants, there is only one gorilla family in the park, it is called the Nyakagexi gorilla group, these a mobile type, the golden monkeys live in the lower slopes of  bamboo forest , they are distinctive with their golden color.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Mgahinga national park.

Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Mgahinga national park in the western part of Uganda, the drive is a long one hence important to consider taking a morning flight or spend a night in Entebbe, it takes +/-8 hours drive passing through the angelic county side of Uganda, we will arrive in time for a late lunch and enjoy an evening boat cruise along lake mutanda, the canoe ride is amazing to explore, and after proceed to the lodge that has been booked for your dinner and staying overnight.

Day 2; Golden monkey tracking and Batwa cultural experience.

Morning breakfast after which you will be transferred to the park headquarters for a morning briefing , later with the guidance of a Uganda wildlife authority, you will be led in to the forest searching for the golden monkeys, along the walk you will be chanced to see other forest creatures, the golden monkeys live within the bamboo forest, they seem to always have food filled in their months, they are pretty fast, and hence if you must take pictures it is wise to set your cameras ready. An hour is allowed with the primates return to the lodge for lunch and a visit to the Batwa community, they are the last group of short, structured people in Uganda, they lived in the forest amicably together with other creatures, until they were evicted from the forest. Day 3: Departure.

Following a morning breakfast, you will be transferred back to Entebbe Or Kampala for your departure as you say goodbye to the country that has been home for some days.
